A promise is broken.

The Promise

I made a promise,
I sealed it up,
Never thinking it'd break apart,
A million pieces,
Shattered to shreds,
came undone those loose promise threads.
It spilled open,
It's the promise that broke,
I could do nothing but splutter and choke.
And as it fell, as I knew it would,
I'd get the punishment, I knew I could.
It came upon me, Like the darkness of night,
I couldn't see anything until everything was put right.
As it crashed, i heard the sound,
The sound of voices floating out and around.
Through the door and out outside,
It just blew away,
The pieces left by my side.
They could be mended,
But I didn't know how,
The promise had to be fixed,
somehow.
So I took the pieces,
And confronted the shards,
I could do nothing but play my last cards.
And the shiver of hope,
Ran down my spine,
As I dreamt, hope still shined.
